~~Where dreams really DO come true!

Rainbow's End in the Bluegrass was founded in 2003. We recognized a need in our community for a venue
to support and aid children with psychological and emotional difficulties. The City of Georgetown, KY owned a property (the former Bradshaw farm) which would serve our needs, and a short- term lease was arranged. Opening in 2004, with borrowed horses, we served our first summer campers. In addition to the summer camps, Rainbow's End offered an after school program for the years 2004 and 2005. Group and private lessons were also added in 2005, as our vision enlarged to include ALL of the children of Georgetown, not just those needing special support.
Sadly, the city decided to sell the Bradshaw farm in 2006. Although Rainbow's End tendered an offer, we
were unsuccessful, and hosted our last summer camp using the Bradshaw farm in 2007. The winter of 2007/08 was a rough one, with our horses relocated several times, but thanks to our awesome group of volunteers we persevered! In April, 2008, we were fortunate enough to meet the Strunk family, who graciously offered us space to create a new home.
Now located on Stone Rd., we have been blessed with with the basic necessities. Our horses enjoy a
twenty-ish acre pasture, and the shelter of a turn-of-the century tobacco barn. Though lacking what some consider "essentials" (such as electricity and indoor plumbing), we've added new fencing, a riding ring, a teriffic gravel lane, and are currently working on making the barn a little more weather resistant. As with any farm, it's always a "work in progress".
In these beautiful surroundings we have, once again, opened our doors and hearts to anyone who feels they
might benefit from the services we offer.
if you, or someone you know, whether young (or young at heart), love horses, and being in the country,
come see us! Spend time on or around horses, learn to care for and ride them, learn the skills and ways to deal with life's daily stress, or just sit on our glider and enjoy the beauty and peace that only nature and the unconditional love of an animal can provide. |
